The Countdown Begins!

What’s Up with the Pop Up?

A Pop-Up is simply one business popping up somewhere other than where you expect them. Like a clothing store taking over a coffee shop or a farmer setting up a vegetable stand in front of a restaurant they supply. It can be inside another business or some other venue or in someone’s backyard. In our case, our cooking staff is going to show up at another eating establishment and take over their kitchen for the day.

Why We're Doing This?

Reason #1:

As a member of the ILoveLocalHFX community, The Brooklyn Warehouse is participating in 'Open City’ in our very own Way!

We have a great city, but how often do we really explore it? We want you to get out of your comfort zone, try something new and learn more about this great city, its neighborhoods, and its local businesses & then we want you to share what you find. Tweet it, post it to facebook, tell your friends and family who are living elsewhere to come visit us.

As an added incentive, you can to pick up an Open City Passport at various locations during the weekend – use it to track your progress, to keep notes and for chances to win prizes from some of your favorite I Love Local businesses.

Pop-In to Brooklyn’s Pop-Up, and become a Local Ambassador!

Reason #2:

The owners of the venue where our pop-up will manifest itself wisely consider that their participation somehow benefits a local organization that is congruent to what we’re doing with their space; in this case... food!

We agree! A portion of the proceeds from the Pop-Up will therefore be donated to Slow Food Nova Scotia & Feed Nova Scotia. So join us on May 12th and help us support both of these important food organizations.

Reason #3:

We just want to do something cool with food in a very cool place in our neighborhood; something with street cred in a venerable place with lots of character; its about sharing community and highlighting ‘Place.'
